My wife, April, and I attend Discovery Church in Winter Garden, FL. The lead pastor is Don Cousins—yes, the father of NFL quarterback Kirk Cousins. Discovery Church is one congregation with three campuses, and we are part of the Winter Garden location, where we’re blessed with three incredible pastors.

I feel called to share notes—and occasionally videos—from our DC Men’s Breakfast, where we welcome a guest speaker every Wednesday morning. This semester, our theme is Living on Purpose. My goal is to keep this page updated on a weekly basis, so I encourage you to check back regularly.

Living on Purpose

For the glory of God and the good of others

September 3, 2025, Head Paster Don Cousins

Don's teaching us two sets of guidelines. One he calls horizontal guidelines, and the other vertical guidelines.

Horizontal Guidelines

  1. Integrity matters (a state of being whole and undivided)
  2. People matter
  3. Don't forget who I am and what I am responsible for.

My notes: Leadership—People follow those who help them. A leader is someone who helps others get to where they can't get to in life.

Vertical Guidelines

  1. Be right with God
  2. Be faithful to God
  3. Live in response to God's voice and be a force for His glory.

Bottom line—Live life as a steward (what God's given us) and not as an owner.

We kick off this semester on August 20, 2025, with "Hall of Fame Coach, Tony Dungy"
