The MLM Business has a reputation that is sometimes favorable, and other times questionable. A lot of the variance is based on experience, or lack of knowledge. And, that’s OK. As someone who has been in the industry for multiple years – I know what’s possible. I happen to be a fan of limitless income potential, and the opportunity to see others winning.
This post will share with you some secrets that only the successful marketers know. There are dozens of tips, tricks and success hacks to help you along the way. But, in the interest of giving you actionable information for now – here are the top 6, in my opinion.
Great network marketers know their target market
As a network marketer, you have to find the best group of people for the products or services that you are offering. I strongly recommend that you go to a search engine, like Google for example, and find the benefits that your market searches for. A lot of people overlook the power in market research. Do yourself a favor and make this one of your first stops.
Knowing your market helps you identify your ideal customer or distributor (they may be one in the same) and this can be powerful. Not to mention, will be helpful in your online (and offline) marketing efforts. Most people fail because they try to sell their products to everyone. And, although your products may very well be, for everyone – finding the right target and demographic is imperative to long-term, residual success.
You must know your ‘why’
This is very important in my opinion. You must find your motivation as to why you want to be a successful network marketer. When the term ‘successful’ is used – what is meant is one who wants to take this beyond a hobby. It is someone who wants to grow a legitimate, sustainable business. Your why might be be family, financial independence, or even freedom. Make sure it is a strong reason because when you run into speed bumps or obstacles along the way, that reason can keep you from giving up.
They choose to master a couple of marketing techniques at one time
Do not try to master too many techniques at one time. Familiar with the saying ‘jack of all trades, master of none’? What is recommended is that you master all the inexpensive techniques first before going to higher ticket ones.
Free techniques might be starting a blog, promoting your products and services on social media, networking, or joining different online interest groups.
You can also see what the successful marketing professionals are doing and learn from their campaigns and activities. In addition, attend recommended webinars or conferences that other leaders – whom you aspire to be, are doing.
A successful network marketer never stops educating himself or herself
You will have to put in the time to work on yourself daily. There is a saying ‘top earners are also top learners‘. Purchasing self-development literature or audios are very affordable, you may even consider the library as a great resource. Whatever you choose, make sure you are always learning. We grow in the places we learn, and implement.
This might mean attending a course by an expert in the marketing industry, or a company conference to learn from those who came before you. The training, let alone the contacts you will meet there – are invaluable.
Great marketers stay consistent
It is advised that you create a list of things that you must accomplish every day. Sort of like that of a ‘to do list’. Make it a habit to get them done. In the network marketing industry, the time to achieve success can vary – new marketers should develop a five (5) year plan.
Those with existing networks, teams, etc. are likely to see a quicker return. This is a variable however, and truly depends on the time invested, experience, and willingness to work.
Above everything though, they are consistent in their approach, delivery and value. They don’t look for leaders, they create them or collaborate with them. Leadership teams can be almost super hero like – they make everything possible.
Successful marketers embrace leadership
Your new business partners will likely look up to you as their mentor or leader. People do not join businesses, they join the people involved in the business. When you are prospecting or searching for business partners, make sure to address that you will help them through any road blocks that they will face. Setting up turn key systems, or plug and play types of training is ideal.
Leaders, lead by example. Chances are if they are suggesting you do something, it is something they have done previously with success. Because you are only as strong as your weakest person – a leader makes it a priority to help those, who want and implement help given. And, leadership isn’t for everyone – and the network marketing industry can expose those are aren’t ready. On the other side of that though, it can create exceptional opportunities for those who embrace it.
