Attraction Marketing | What It Is And Why Should You Care

attraction marketing

You might be asking yourself, what is attraction marketing? Or better yet, why should you care? First things first, attraction marketing is defined as,

Attraction Marketing is the use of marketing techniques specifically designed to teach the client or consumer, what you are doing and how a service or product will benefit them before they purchase it.

Sounds simple enough? Possibly, but my guess would be that, that’s a wonderful description for you of what it is, but what I want to share with you is why you should learn the skills necessary to apply it, and why it could be the game changer in your network marketing business.

Somewhere around 2004 – 2005 social media began taking a role in the network marketing profession. There were multiple shifts in how products and services were displayed or shared with others, but still new enough (given that Facebook was founded in 2004) that no one was really sure how to use it to benefit their business.

As the years went on, more and more network marketers, and business people alike, were learning the power of these social media tools. This has continued to rise given the amount of social media platforms available today.

Fun Fact: There are approximately 215 social media platforms available today.

You might be familiar with the saying that people buy from or join others (in business) that they know, like and trust. So knowing this, network marketing has become an industry that the products or service may take a back seat to the leadership and/or mentors associated with the chosen company. This isn’t to suggest, that both great products and quality services are essential to your business but what I am suggesting is that the people or team is equally as important.

Attraction Marketing & Systems

I like systems.

Let’s use McDonald’s Restaurant as an example. Regardless of the McDonald’s you walk into, anywhere in the world, their system is the same. You have the McFlurry machine on the right, and the fries machine on the left. Filet of Fish is always in a turquoise wrapper and cheeseburgers in the yellow wrapper – it is a turn key system that has helped generated millions of dollars. They haven’t done so because they’re the best hamburgers around, but they’ve done so because they have created a system that even a fifteen (15) year old kid can work it.

A system created that can be duplicated, thousands of times in any language, anywhere. This, is powerful.

Systems are powerful and essential to the network marketing industry, and having said that this is where attraction marketing and its ability to duplicate comes into play.

Attraction marketing in the eyes of a system.

  1. Attract quality leads, in endless amounts
  2. Create a relationship with those leads
  3. Generate income from these leads
  4. Generate residual income from these leads

Now, going back to the basics is how do we attract those quality leads. Are you familiar with the saying give to receive? People appreciate value. People learn to trust and respect you when you offer them something without expecting a return.

You might consider something like a free sample of your product, or a giveaway a cool ebook you’ve written. Perhaps it’s some great facts on the best water to drink or a blog that delivers value.

Be who you want to attract. We don’t want to, but as humans we often judge a book by its cover. Within ten (10) seconds of meeting someone, we form an opinion – first impressions matter. They matter from your appearance, to the way you speak. Your posture and how well you listen.

In an article published by Huffington Post (November 2014) they refer to attraction marketing implementation as the ABC’s. To keep things in alignment with what I teach and deliver, I have made some modifications, to their descriptions, and how they’re applied, but the name, ABC’s, pertaining to attraction marketing is the same.

The ABC’s of Attraction Marketing

A = Aligning your message with your audience in an authentic way.  Keep it real — the only way you can do this and have it successfully engage your audience, is to be authentic and endorse only what you, or your team have experienced. People are smart and they can spot a con within seconds. Don’t underestimate your target audience.

B = Believe in your products or services, and your ability to assist your target customer or client with their ‘need’. It is important to be accessible to your customer  or teammate and ensure them that what you are offering is of quality. Remember this, when your customer feels you are a person of quality, they won’t have any problem believing that you represent is a quality product.

C = Communicating and connecting in a consistent manner. Your audience wants to hear from you in a personable, direct way. Consistency implies a regular basis, and being predictable in that regard. Make each piece of communication connect with your audience.

Attraction Marketing works, because you are starting with the customers’ needs in mind. You aren’t only thinking of their problems, but by using problem solving skills, posing different strategies or solutions, and answering their need before even really knowing you, you’ve established an underlying trust.
